Wheel Chocks

PITTMAN stock wheel chocks for trucks, trailers and aircraft – large stocks mean fast delivery and unbeatable prices.

Wheel chocks are a relatively inexpensive way to invest in safety. Manufactured in a variety of shapes and manufactured from different materials chocks are available to withstand the weight of heavy vehicles including HGV wheel chocks and truck wheel chocks.

Where trucks and other vehicles are required to be parked, or raised e.g. trailers, wheel chocks can add an additional layer of safety. For use at loading bays to stop trucks and trailers from moving during loading and unloading, chocks can also be an optional safety feature for cranes, forklifts and dumper trucks and may be mandatory if no mechanical assistance is on hand. Chocks are an essential piece of equipment for use at airports too, to secure aeroplanes.

There are many types of wheel chocks to help prevent slippage or accidental movement of heavy vehicles. Rubber chocks are ideal for use in certain situations, especially in wet or cold conditions. Rubber is weatherproof, scratch-resistant and will not freeze the hands when handling them in extremely cold conditions.  Rubber wheel chocks are designed to be non-slip and may come with warning reflective stickers. Wheel chocks are resistant to many chemicals, oils and solvents.

The Natural SBR Rubber Compound Aircraft Wheel Chock is ideal for use in general aviation featuring reflective strips on all sides, the chock is grooved for extra grip and is easy to transport with its handy carrying handle.

The GHP Wheel Chock HD is suitable for use with numerous vehicle types from vans, trucks, HGVs and articulated trailers. Chocks come in high visibility yellow and can be used to ensure vehicles stay firmly in place and stop them accidentally moving even when brakes are deployed. Especially useful on slopes or angled positions, chocks are durable and feature handles to allow for easy transportation. Chocks are also ideal for use in company car parks and warehouses. Made from a highly durable tyrecord material, the 6KG weight keeps them firmly weighted to the ground and keeping even heavy vehicles in place.

Chocks should always be used in pairs and only after the parking brake has been applied. Wheel chocks should be selected according to vehicle size and type and should be centred so they fit snugly and squarely against the tread of each wheel.
